Pre-Intro Audio. We started the audio before we were ready for the intro. It was funny so we left it in. While we did not start the same way, it works pretty well.
In the second segment of this episode we play our interview with Twelve of the Third Watch LEMC during the 2nd Spokes and Smokes event. We learn about the events they put on and talk about VROC (Veterans Resource and Outreach Center) that this event is supporting.
To help out go to the Third Watch LEMC website: https://thirdwatchlemc.com/ or Life Message website: https://lifemessage.org/ which is the parent company of VROC.
Story of VROC: Twelve ran into a homeless vet under a bridge in Rowlett who used to be a cop. Turns out there were three total. He wanted to help them out. Talked to Life Message and them about how many homeless or needy veterans that they helped out. Twelve organized a charitable ride to raise money to help out. This was around Thanksgiving so they also supplemented with a ham and all the fixings so these at veterans at Life Message could enjoy a good meal on the holiday. Chris Kizziar and Twelve got their two ideas together and now they have physical building that houses a full service resource center. In partnership with the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and many others to provides services which are more difficult to get outside of Dallas. Since opening in March 2019, they have been able to service more than 1,100 veterans. They will take care of folks all around the DFW area.
Join us at the Rowlett City Hall at 4000 Main Street, Rowlett, Texas. VROC and Rowlett will be honoring their first veteran of Iraqi Freedom. Also the youngest they have honored. Then depending on the timing we will go Main Street Cigar Company which is just a 7 min walk to finish off the evening with a good smoke and company.

44:00 VROC Veteran Recognition Honors every other month
VROC Veteran Recognition honors a veteran every other month. Vets to be honors have served ranging from WWII to Present day. Once story Twelve told was of Sergeant Major Blatnik who served in the Army’s 1st Infantry Division (the famed Big Red One). Made landing in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy. When they honored him, Blatnik came to the ceremony in his WWII uniform. Upon reaching the front he started singing God Bless America. He talked about going back to Normandy on an Anniversary date. He said he started remembering those he lost. Then he started naming them. 70+ years later, he was able to remember and name those he lost on D-Day.
This is just one of the many stories and honoring of true American Heroes.
