The Cigar
Micallef ‘A’ Maduro 6 x 52
Named by the ambassadors, the Maduro was to be named Ambassador, but copy-write issues caused some issues. So they ended up naming it ‘A’. We can’t find what is in it, so we used another Micallef Maduro that is similar, to talk about what is in it. MSRP $8.
This cigar is a very nice and flavorful cigar. Nice dark wrapper with little to no veining. Having flavors of spicy and a taste of spicy in the liquor both went really well together. There is a bit of woody flavor coming out. Darrell things perhaps nutmeg might be coming out.
The Liquor
D’usse Cognac
Pronounced “dew-say”. One of D’usse’s cellars is located on the Charente River. Cellars along the river have high levels of humidity. According to D’usse, humid cellars tend to “produce floral notes and add smoothness and roundness”. D’usse also has a dry cellar in the chateau that they claim brings out woody and spicy flavors in their eaux-de-vie. D’usse VSOP is aged at least four and a half years or more and is produced in extremely limited quantities. Now owned by Baccardi. Is fronted and partially owned by Jay Z. It has a woody notes and a touch of cinnamon. Distinctively smooth flavors of spice, almond, and cinnamon with dried fruit accents. MSPR $50.
Very much a fruit flavor coming through. At 80 Proof you do not get any of sting or any coating in your back of your mouth.
