Made by Nestor Plasencia: 5 Vegas Gold Ecuadorian CT wrapper; Honduran binder; Cuban-seed Nicaraguan & Cuban-seed Honduran filler. 5-year-aged tobaccos. Nut and wood flavors with a creamy finish. Mild – Medium MSRP $8. Bill and Darrell both like this stick but don’t find much time to pontificate upon it since they immediately jump into the interview. Basically, it would be a great stick for anyone looking for a mild cigar of quality construction.
Bill and Darrell brought the Balcones Fr. Oak Cask limited release, but Randy also brought 3 offerings from Remus. The #2 Repeal Reserve Bourbon, #3 Repeal Reserve Bourbon, and Remus Volstead Reserve. Oddly, all three of them had different favorites among the Remus line. Darrell liked the #2 for it’s strawberry flavor, Randy prefers the #3, and Bill liked the Volstead Reserve. All of them have had the Balcones Fr. Oak and love it’s huge variety of flavors.
Discussion topics varied quite a bit, but they discussed Randy’s podcast/youtube videos, the tasting kit he offers at his sight and how much whiskey and cigars bring people together and prompt discussions rather than distractions. We discuss some tasting tips and flavors.
