The More

While smoking a AJ Fernandez Rosa de Guadalupe and drinking the Plantation Original Dark the boys talk Elon’s neural link and Johnny Mnemonic. Tech tech tech. Do we ever stop.

Check out the Wikipedia article which is where the discussion comes from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Mnemonic_(film)

Johnny Mnemonic was released in 1995 and takes place in 2021 where Johnny is basically a data courier.  The data is stored in his brain.  He can hold 80GB and finds a compression algorithm so he can get 160GB out of it.  The data he has to carry is 320GB.  When you think about this from the perspective of 1995, 80GB is a lot or storage.  320GB is over the top.  We bring this up since we were talking about he Elon Musk’s Neuralink.  While there are not any parallels between the movie and Neuralink, when we were talking about it in Episode 80, we went from what the product actually is to a movie that came to mind.

Can you take what Musk’s company is doing and change it to be about adding memory to the brain or doing a slight reconfigure on parts of the brain to make it more efficient?  Can this help with memory recall or even processing?  Who knows.  Only time will tell.
