The Cigar
CAO Bones Blind Hughie 6 x 54 Toro
USA Broadleaf Wrapper. Connecticut Shade Binder. Honduran Jamastran, Honduran La Entrada, Nicaraguan Esteli and Domincan Piloto Cubano Fillers. MSRP $8.
Mike thinks overall that CAO makes a consistent cigar and a daily approach to smoking. He likes the Brazil, Flathead, and some others.
We all thought that it the Bones had a good flavor
To Darrell, it reminds him of the Flathead line, but a bit more spicy and some leather. To Bill, it seems more like a blending of the Flathead and Amazon lines. Mike things the CAO Bones is a bit more subdued than the Flathead, but with a kind of “tang” that is not over powering.
The Liquor
Pyrat Rum
We did not talk much about the rum, but we always conceder Pyrat a good go to rum. You can check out some our past shows for more of our detailed thoughts on Pyrat. MSRP $23

About Mike
Mike moved from Detroit to North Texas and went through High School and College in Texas. His career in the beginning provided lots of opportunity for travel across the U.S. Traveling and visiting different cigar shops and meeting cigar reps through different regions allowed him the ability to learn and taste a variety of cigars along with meeting cigar shop owners and cigar reps as well.
Different regions, different shops and lounges will carry different products than other parts of the country. There are plenty that are the same, but these regional differences can expose you to cigar bands that your would not otherwise be able to try. The ability to get to talk the cigar reps as they move through their regions is a huge bonus in developing relationships and understanding.
Mike’s knowledge of the tobacco industry is amazing. When Mike gets into something he learns all he can about it. Cigars is just a portion of the things he knows.
As with most of us who enjoy cigars, we are willing to help others out. Mike is if course no different. If someone has questions, no matter at what level of cigar knowledge they have, Mike is more than willing to offer advise and thoughts. These can certainly help folks learn more about cigars, but also builds relationships and a sense of community. When talking with Mike you get the feeling of both.
Mike has quite a few cigars. We talk about cigar storage and how he handles having around a thousand cigars on hand. Check that out in the show to see how he handles storage.
Along with cigars, Mike is into shooting sports. Tactical Pistol and Trap are the ones he enjoys the most. Just like cigars, he is very detailed orientated. So learning and training on firearms is a passion of his.
How Cigar Hammer came about
We asked him why Cigar Hammer. He wanted something that was easy to say and remember, but had meaning to him. Along with cigar and gun, Mike is also into woodworking.Including making toolboxes out of cigar boxes.
He saw folks make Thor Hammer out of wood. He and others thought that was cool and interesting. You can find out more by listening to the show.
The logo as you can see is the Hammer where the handle is a cigar enclosed in a red-ish circle. We talked about the hammer and you can understand the cigar. The red circle is a homage to the Japanese side of his family.
