The Cigar

Perdomo 20th Anniversary Connecticut 7 x 60.
The smoke is heavy, but the draw is not. Retrohale is harsh, but has a nice woody, earthy flavor with just a touch of a toasted note. Generous cap.

The Liquor

CLM Special Bracket Play with Bourbon
Garrison Brothers Straight Bourbon Whiskey 94 Proof. Russel Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Single Barrel 110 Proof. Ironroot Harbinger, Woodford Reserve

Garrison Brothers vs Russel Reserve:

The Russel has a bit of a bite to it, but is smooth, but the buttery, creamy smooth flavor of the Garrison Brothers wins out from both of us. The Garrisons also compliments the cigar we are having a bit better as well.
Garrison Brothers wins that one and moves on.

Woodford Reserve vs Ironroot Harbinger:

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon at 86 Proof. Ironroot Harbinger Straight Bourbon at 115 Proof at 32 months. While the Woodford is extremely smooth and quite tasty, but the Ironroot Harbinger is just an explosion of flavor that bets out the Woodford. There is so many different flavors that are surprising for a bourbon. The Ironroot smooths out the cigar and brings the earthy flavors to the forefront.

Ironroot wins this one and moves on.

Head to Head: Ironroot and Garrison Brothers:

In the head to head with the Ironroot and Garrison both have some really good flavors. This was the toughest competition so far. There was a lot to think about in coming with an answer. Darrell and I did not agree on a winner. We agreed back and forth. After giving our arguments and not being able to agree on a clear winner, Tech Support came in and determined the tie braker! Thank you Tech Support.

The Winner is: Ironroot!!

The More

Ironroot Harbinger:
Ironroot Harbinger got the Whisky Magazine World’s Best Bourbon, 2020. It is their flagship bourbon at 115 proof and is a non-chill filtered bourbon. It was their first product. The nose is listed as maple syrup, orange marmalade, and complex red fruits. The taste smacks of red fruits and baking spices on a bed of dark sugars with a medium rich finish that gets you back in the glass. The grains used are Purple Corn, Bloody Butcher Corn, Flint Corn, non-GMO Yellow Dent Corn, and Rye

Main Street Cigar Company 2nd Anniversary:
We were there for the 2nd Anniversary. It was a bit muted due to the weather, but a patron brought in some ribs. There was still a good crowd. Everyone had a real good time. Enjoyed the cupcakes, talking, cigars, and drinks. Pay some love to your local shops. Even in you are not able to sit in the lounge, try to purchase some cigars as you normally would or even just a little more. Congrats to Main Street for being open for 2 years! We did an interview that we will release as a Bonus show. Be sure to check that out.
