The Cigar
A.J. Fernandez Last Call 4-1/2 x 48.
US Pennsylvania Wrapper. Nicaraguan Binder and Filler. Full body cigar. Notes of cocoa, pepper, leather, and cedar. MSRP $6.
We got chocolate, pepper, and cedar. Very good cigar. Would highly recommend it. AJ Fernandez is knocking out of the park!
The Liquor
Selvarey Cacao Panamanian Rum. 70 Proof, 5 year aged.
The cocoa flavor is overriding. It is a very rich drink. Not really the best rum to pair with a cigar, but maybe in a coffee or as a mixer. This is a tough one to use as a sipper. Cold or warm, this is definitely a sipper.
The More
Cigar Rights of America
Members got a email from CRA about Judge Amit Mehta vacating an FDA requirement on warning labels. “FDA failed to articulate a reasoned basis for requiring warning labels for premium cigars.” Also, “By failing to analyze whether consumers are in fact misinformed or underinformed as to premium cigar health effects, the agency has failed to offer the rational connection between facts and judgment required to pass muster under the arbitrary and capricious standard.”
Glynn Loope, executive director of CRA, stated, “Today’s decision demands a reasoned approach when addressing the regulation of premium cigars. For years, premium cigar manufacturers and retailers have been sounding the alarm that FDA’s warning label requirements were among the regulatory requirements that would devastate the premium cigar industry.”
While this comes down as a FDA just not enforcing the regulation, the regulation still exists. Sign up for Cigar Rights of America, get two premium cigars, and help fight for our rights. Those smoking premium cigars know exactly what they are doing. There is no deception going on here. Sign up. Help defend out rights.

20’s Mixers
What should we do for the next 20’s Mixer. High Ball (Whiskey), South Side Fizz (Gin), Mint Julep (Whiskey), Bee’s Knees (Gin). Which should we do next. Since the last one was a Gin, it would be nice to have a Whiskey/Bourbon, but give us your thoughts.
Look Back:
A recent review of the Last Call that Darrell had at En Fuego, Murphy, Tx, and recorded in his CLM Cigar Journal. This review was about a month ago. “Dark, Dark wrapper. Very clean. Very even burn. Very smooth for a strong, toasty, chocolate with mild spicy. Very nice smooth retrohale, maybe nutmeg. This cigar should be heralded. Very good. A must try.”
Even with as recent as a look back as this is, if Darrell had not written it down, then he would not have remembered everything at the time. Such as the nutmeg. He did not get nutmeg on this round of smoking the Last Call.
